People are always worrying about kids being exposed to a lot of inappropriate material. Violent video games are a major cause of their concern. It is thought by so many people that the violence in video games causes the kids playing the games to also become violent. Instead of deciding for themselves whether their kids are mature enough for certain games and monitoring what they play, many people blame the game makers and their creations. It is the job of the parents to censor what their children play.
In the article "The 10 biggest violent video-game controversies", lawsuits against the "Grand Theft Auto" games are brought up. The games were accused of leading kids to kill people. People need to stop and think. Were video games really the problem or were the kids never taught that they shouldn't try to re-enact everything they see. It is also possible that the kids had some other sort of problems.
Recently, the state of California went as far as to try ban the selling of violent video games to kids. Why do the kids that understand that video games weren't made to be imitated have to be punished because others can't realize that the games aren't real. They were never intended to be made real through the actions of people.
Video games are not the portrayal of the lives their creators wish they could lead. They are made for the entertainment of gamers. Violence has been around long before the arrival of video games. Violence can result from a variety of situations. Video games are not the problem.
